List your vehicle in the nearest zip code where it will get the most hits
This one is pretty simple!
When listing your vehicle you are required to provide a zip code that identifies
your location. Shoppers search specific zip codes and/or sort search results
by distance. If you use a zip code in a larger city or area, you will get more hits
and inquiries.
Since the zip code you enter does not have to be your residential zip code, why
not use the nearest zip code for a large city or densely populated area? For example,
if you live in a small town of 20,000, 45 minutes south of Chicago, and are looking to
sell you modified Subaru. You may be better off using a Chicago zip code to get
more hits to your listing.
Keep in mind however that you may have to meet potential buyers in whatever location
you pick, so don't use a zip code that's farther than you are willing to travel
Find out exactly how much your vehicle will retail for if it were stock. Starting
from this amount, determine what mods on you vehicle increase it's worth. Be honest
and realistic in performing this calculation. Contrary to your naturally biased
opinion, not every mod improves the value of your vehicle.
Also consider the condition and age of your mods. We recommend that you value your
vehicle on paper. Have someone with sound automotive knowledge review your estimates.
With very few exceptions your modified vehcile will likely not sell valued more
than 25% over stock. If possible, stay as close as possible to stock resell value. As
with any commodity, pricing is key to success, so be realistic. Use below links

Highlight special vehicle designations
Any special designation assigned to your vehicle by the manufacturer or a reputable
tuner will help your sale chances, if highlighted. For example: If you drive a Celica
GTS, Galant VR4, RSX typeS, Roush Mustang, etc, ensure that this is included in
your listing. We provide a field called Special Designation for this purpose.
Too much information is better than too little
Shopping for anything online remains a troubling prospect for many people. There
is a natural discomfort that results from the inability to touch, and inspect a
product. This is especially true in online vehicle shopping and even more so in
online used vehicle shopping. However, shopping for modified used vehicles online
is by far the most unnerving to potential buyers.
The only way to reduce this natural fear is to provide as much info on your vehicle
as possible. Studies have shown that the chance of sale greatly increases with the
amount of information provided. Providing VIN, complete model info, vehicle history,
and condition, maintenance history, etc. will improve your odds.
Someone may be slightly interested in your vehicle; however, if they have no info
available, they'll simply move on to other vehicles. Keep them on your listing and
help them get familiar with your vehicle and you will have a more likely sale.
Pictures! Pictures! and more Pictures!!!
Attempting to Sell a modified vehicle with no pictures is a waste of time, period!
There is a reason why Dealer listings on any site now include 8 or more images of
each vehicle. Since shoppers can't touch and inspect your vehicle online, they want
to see as much of the vehicle as possible. Feed this need! People want great, useful
images of your vehicle. This helps them familiarize themselves with it. The more
buyers know, the more comfortable they become and this is good for you.
A few well-taken shots can and does hook buyers who may otherwise have missed
the true high-points of a vehicle. Images are always important when selling online
and they are most important when your vehicle is modified.
What is the most impressive part of you vehicle? Show it off! You can now upload up to 80 pictures to your listing. The first 2 are free because we are nice; and the remaining are only .25c per picture.
Use Enhancements to increase Traffic
The more people that see your listing, the more likely it is that you will find a buyer quickly. Pretty straight forward!
With enhancements like Home page placement, Spotlight, Search results highlight, and magazine placement, you can dramatically increase the amount of traffic that your listing gets. Even fully loaded, your modifiedtrucktrader.com listing remains a bargain compared to other online classifieds. Use enhancements to get more traffic. It will be well worth the extra money when your truck is sold!
